Welcome to the weekend crafty friends! Today, I’m sharing a card featuring, an oldie but goodie, stamp set: Alien Invasion. I actually started creating this card because I was just playing with watercolor inks and ended up with a fun and purpley background. I added a bit of splatter and it became the perfect galaxy background.
I stamped images from the stamp set using Alien Invasion using a black ink. Then I colored them up using copic markers. I started out with just one alien in the little spaceship, the banner and the earth but after coloring it up, I wanted to fill up my galaxy a bit more with two more aliens and a moon.
I forgot how much I love this set and I'm so glad my random watercolored background led me back to this cute set.

I have stamped all the images and coloured them with my Polychromos pencils and the black glaze pen. I masked the ufo and that way I could stamp the alien inside it. I have fussy cut all the images. I have die-cut a large circle with the Crea-nest-lies XXL 33 from Crealies from darkblue design paper from the Beachside petite paperpad from Lawn fawn (retired( and glued those on a white card. I stamped a sentiment from the set Alien invasion from Gerda Steiner designs with versamark ink on the design paper and then I have die-cut it with the same dies. I glued the little circle with foamtape on the card.
it's Tanja here with another hidden slider card. My son was so excited about the hidden slider mechanism that he wanted to create a Galaxy card using this technique and what better stamp sets for this project than the Gerda Steiner Designs Blast off and Alien Invasion?

When in come to make cards I find myself always in need of birthday cards :) I never have enough , that's why I think this stamp set is just perfect !
Here is the card that I made , a bunch of aliens having a birthday party :)
The background is created using Distress inks , I wanted to look like disco lights :) and the aliens are colored using Spectrum Noir Markers and I also wanted to stay with the same color scheme .
The sentiment is also from the same stamp. To finish the card I adhered everything using liquid glue and foam tape!
Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great day!
Hello everyone, and thank you for having me as a guest designer here on Gerda Steiner Designs. My name is Lesley Oman, also known as Hungry Heffy from Hungry Heffy Crafts.
Today I am sharing a video tutorial on how I created this fun UFO spinner card with the adorable Alien Invasion stamp set and coordinating dies. As soon as I saw this set, I knew exactly what I wanted to create - a fun, interactive, spacetime scene!
The video walks through exactly how I created the card, but heres a quick run down of the steps I took.
To begin, I trimmed up two panels of watercolour cardstock so I could create the basis of the card. One panel is 5.5 inches x 8.5 inches, and the other is 5.5 x 4.25 inches. I taped them to a craft mat with some masking tape and reached for my watercolour paints, as I wanted to create my own watercolour galaxy effect background.
This is a fun technique, and you will see in the video that it very much looks like a hot mess for a while, but before long it all comes together to create a SPACE-TACULAR background! I flicked white paint onto the panels with a paintbrush to create clusters of stars.
Whilst my watercolour was drying, I used my MISTI tool to stamp the alien and spaceship images onto some copic friendly paper. I also needed to create a matching reverse image for both items, so I used a mirror stamp to do a little mirror stamping. This is a fun way to reverse your stamp images, and is perfect for creating spinner elements like this! I also had the idea to create the illusion of glass in my UFO using acetate. I think this really makes the whole thing come to life!
I coloured in my stamped images with a little copic colouring, and then assembled my alien in his UFO, making sure to sandwich a doubled up piece of sewing thread between the two alien images. This is what will make the flying saucer spin!
Before long, my watercolour panels were dry so I creased the larger piece with the painted side facing in - this then became the base of my card. Then I used washi tape to temporarily stick the smaller painted panel to the front, and using a circular die, I cut an aperture in the front of my card - through both layers of cardstock.
I was then then able to secure the thread using sticky tape, so that the flyer saucer was positioned beautifully in the middle of my circle aperture, between the two painted piece of cardstock. In the video I share a TOP TIP to ensure that the thread doesn't loosen or get accidentally pulled out!
Once my UFO was in place, I could adhere the top panel onto the card base, and finish the project with a few extra features. I added a stamped greeting to the front and inside of the card, as well as two images which I watercoloured with my Artquest Stargazers pearlescent watercolour paints. I even used some white gouache and a fine paintbrush to add a few more dominant stars and some cute constellations! I just love that these stamps all work so well together!
And now the card is done! All you have to do is gently turn the UFO round and round, and you will see the thread twisting over itself. Closing the card will hold the alien in place, but when you open the card -- WHOOOSHHH - this cute extraterrestrial is having extra fun as he whizzes across the universe! :-)
Be sure to watch the video for more details on how to make this card and thank you once again for letting me be a guest designer on the blog today! I am very blessed.... and a little dizzy from watching this sweet little guy spin round and round..... but he is just so addictive! :-) You can check out more of my projects over on my blog Hungry Heffy Crafts or see more videos over at my YouTube channel YouTube.com/hungryheffy
have a great day, and until next time.... happy crafting!

Hi there, all! It's Tara and today I am so excited to be sharing a project using the brand new Gerda Steiner Designs Bats Halloween stamp set! I am super stoked for fall and Halloween - it is my absolute favorite time of year and the best time to make cards!! When I saw this new set I did a happy dance! These bats are so adorable and I love that there are sentiments for occasions other than Halloween!
For this project I wanted to try my hand at a nighttime moonscape. I have never attempted to create the light glow around the moon and though it looked like fun! Turns out, it wasn't as tricky as I anticipated! I like when that happens!
Once my night scene was created a I used Distress Inks to watercolor the moon to add some texture. Using the same technique I colored in the adorable little bat! I added a sentiment with some Liquid Platinum embossing powder (this color is divine!) and this card was done!!
Thank you all so much for stopping by! I'll see you again soon! Bye!
Happy Friday, friends! It's Tara from Curl E. Cue's and today's set of cards is full of all kinds of watercolor, galactic fun! I just keep coming back to these super cute space themed stamp sets from Gerda Steiner Designs! When you have both Blast Off and Alien Invasion the possibilities are just endless!
Today I tried my hand at creating a galaxy background using watercolors. My inspiration for these cards came from Heather over at Houses Built of Cards. She does these amazing ink blended backgrounds behind black and white stamped images and I really wanted to try it! So I went with galaxies behind fun aliens and rockets and stuff!
The trick to these backgrounds is truly just practice! I think that my third card turned out way better than my first one as I figured out how much of the colors I like showing through and how the paint layered on top of itself. Check out the video to see how I created each one! I do love that I used the same technique and each card looks really different!
Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! See you next time! Bye!
I'm Justine and I am guest designing today here at GSD Stamps. I am super excited about this opportunity to use these stamps - they are just too cute!
A little bit about myself. My name is Justine and I am originally from Canada but currently living in Edinburgh, Scotland. I am a teacher by profession but have kept a crafty blog and YouTube channel for quite some time now as a sort of "second job". I enjoy crafting, reading and traveling or just wondering the streets of Europe and getting lost in them.
I have created a YouTube video on how to make this card - a sort of step-by-step tutorial if you are interested in recreating a galaxy background or this card itself. A big thank you to GSD Stamps for contacting me and letting me know about their awesome stamps! Can't wait to make something else with these babies! If you liked what I created, don't forget to follow me on Instagram (@justinehovey), subscribe to my YouTube channel or like my Facebook page.
Hi, everyone! It's Tara from Curl E. Cue's and I am so excited to be sharing my very first project as part of the Gerda Steiner Designs design team!! I just love coloring all of the adorable images and am so happy to be joining this talented group!
For my first project I created a set of cards using the cute little alien that is featured in both the Blast Off and Alien Invasion stamp sets. To me, he looks like a little alien gummy bear - especially after I colored him all up in rainbow colors! I used my MISTI to help me create six cards with the same one-layer design and used some full-adhesive Post-It notes to create little masks.
I stamped everything on Bristol Smooth White card stock so I could color it all in with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers (I'm kind of obsessed with those at the moment).
I think the best part of these cards is the story they tell. By finishing off the inside of the card it created a fun finish to the card by letting you know that little gummy bear alien got his cake!!
If you're interested in learning more about how I created these cards, check out the video tutorial! I can't wait to see you again with more fun projects! Thanks so much and have a fabulous weekend! Bye!
