Alien Invasion

Welcome to the weekend crafty friends! Today, I’m sharing a card featuring, an oldie but goodie, stamp set: Alien Invasion. I actually started creating this card because I was just playing with watercolor inks and ended up with a fun and purpley background. I added a bit of splatter and it became the perfect galaxy background.

I stamped images from the stamp set using Alien Invasion using a black ink. Then I colored them up using copic markers. I started out with just one alien in the little spaceship, the banner and the earth but after coloring it up, I wanted to fill up my galaxy a bit more with two more aliens and a moon.

I forgot how much I love this set and I'm so glad my random watercolored background led me back to this cute set.

Skating Mice Pair

Hello everyone!  Allison Cope here! It’s snowy and rather white here in Southern Alberta today so I thought I’d create a pretty winter scene to put some cute critters on.

Today I’m working with the sweet “Ice Skating Mouse” digital image.  I have printed out my images on to Strathmore 400 Series Cold Press Watercolor paper to use my ZIG Clean Color Markers with today.

Thanks for joining me today!  I’d love to hear what you think about my card today!

Happy stamping!

A Whale of a Time by Jeannie

Hi everyone! It’s Jeannie (InsideoutJeans) on the blog today with Gerda Steiner’s recently released stamp set called A Whale of a Time. I hope you love the card I created today as much as I do.

I've been in a creative funk and so I just wanted to sit down and watercolor and see what happened. I started out with the idea of a light blue sky and the ocean. The more I added color, the more I changed my mind to an early morning sunrise. I recently was in Denver, and they had these amazing skies filled with so many different colors. It was so gorgeous.

Watercoloring turned out really well and I'm definitely not a pro. I just added different colors to create an ombre yellow, orange, pink. Then for the ocean, I added a couple layers of different shades of blue and green. With watercolors, you build up the layers of colors so I dried the card panel and then continued to add more and more colors.

I decided to use the two whales that appear to be looking at each other. They are so adorable and I just imagined them swimming side by side and this was the perfect background for it. Don't you think? To finish off the card, I added the sentiment in the sky.
