A Tippsy Monster

Hi guys! Today I'm introducing you to the newest clear stamp set by Gerda Steiner Designs which features monsters. I think when it comes to coloring images and working with them, monsters are my all-time favorite. It's especially interesting since I discovered Gerda Steiner Designs about a year ago because of the beautiful digital monster images that she offered. Now we have 3 new monsters that come as clear stamps, complete with a few fantastic sentiments that allow you sheer endless combinations.

When I first saw the monster that I'm using on my cards today I immediately pictured him being a little sappy from having consumed one or two drinks too many.

The coloring was done with Copic markers and I referred to the hex chart by Sandy Allnock to find colors which would work together well. If you have Copic markers and you wonder sometimes which color combinations you could try, I really suggest you give this hex chart a look because it's absolutely worth the investment (it just costs a few dollars).

The background of my card base has some foil, by the way. I wanted to try it out because it seems to be all the rage in the crafting world right now, but I was disappointed by the results that I got with a cheap laminator that I bought on Amazon. The foil didn't stick entirely and left some black marks open. I tried it with two different printers, different heat settings, different papers — nothing really worked perfectly. So I returned the laminator and I will try to get my hands on a Minc mini once they are available in Europe and see if that gives me better results.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and leaving a comment, you brighten up my day!

Birthday Monsters

Hey everyone!

It's Wiebke here and today I'm featuring the super new Monster Party clear stamp set!
I made two various cards for you using two of these darn cute monsters! :)

On my first card, I used some birthday pattern paper and one cut out Distress Ink blended background. I added a few water droplets on it to let it look a bit wild and messy. With my copic markers, I colored the grumpy monster and added afterwards a few white dots with my white gel pen. Just for some details :)
At least, I stamped the super fun sentiments of the set with a mint and dark blue ink on white paper and cut that out.

Oh my! This card is one of my current "I love and create everything in combo with black"-phase, ha! I think you can create SO elegant cards with just adding a black frame and a black element on the card. That's what I did on that one. I prepared a piece of watercolored paper and placed my little peeking monster on it. I heat embossed the sentiment on some black cardstock and added it to the card along with the sweet cupcake and the little present.

Well, these were some monstrous party projects! I hope you liked them :)
Have a great day!

You Are RAWRsome

Hello friends, it's Chitra here with a card for you all!!
The other day I got a super fun stamp from Gerda Steiner Designs and there was this amazing brand new Monster Party stamp set!!! EEEeeeeekkkk!!! Love love love this set!!!
Here is my card...

Look how cute is it and I also love the font of RAWRsome!!!
I stamped this cutie on a rectangular piece of cardstock and drew a square inside so that it would look like a polaroid!! The image is then colored using Copics. Once the coloring was done I rounded the top corners of the polaroid, stamped the sentiment using black Memento ink and adhered it using foam adhesive.
The design paper on the background is from Echo Park.
I also added a little strip of washi tape on top and added some hearts, I just love adding little hearts to my cards.
Here is a close up..

Hope you liked my card.
You can check all the clear stamps available in the shop..
Thanks for stopping by!!

Hugs,
Chitra

Guest Designer Laura Sterckx

Hello everyone! I am Laura Sterckx from www.makingcardsisfun.com and I'm happy to be a guest designer this month. In today's post I am using the How are Awe set.

If you're a lover of quick and easy cards, then you're going to love this! For this card I started out with a piece of patterned paper from the Up in the Clouds collection from Pinkfresh Studio. I got the kit a couple of months ago and didn't realize that all the papers and stickers are sold out almost everywhere. I'm sorry about that! However, if you're looking for something similar check out the papers from their Happy Things collection. I love stitched edges so I used the largest die cut from the Large Stitched Rectangles set from Lawn Fawn to die cut the patterned paper.

Isn't that sheep adorable? I colored him with Copic markers. For this fur I used an N0 marker along with a colorless blender. Then for his face I used E0000E51 and a bit of R11 for a blush on his cheeks. Finally I used N4 and N6 for the hooves. I wanted the sheep to stand out a bit more so I adhered him onto a die cut tag from Pretty Pink Posh. As you can see there's a slight blue shadow on the edges of the tag. I simply used a BG11 Copic marker for that along with the colorless blender.

Some people call me the queen of sequins. I love that and I am truly honored! :) So of course I embellished my card with some sequins from The Ton and Pretty Pink Posh. Stickers aren't just for kids so I used a sticker sheet from Pinkfresh Studio to add a sentiment and rainbow to the card.

That's it! :) Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hello nutcracker!

Hey everyone!

It's Wiebke here and I have a card for you today featuring the "Happy Fall" set!
I saw a similar layout to this one a few weeks ago and immediately thought:" Oh wow! That's it! I need to make a card similar to this one, it's just perfect for quick and easy cards!"

I used two different pieces of pattern paper for my background, I think orange and deep green are great fall colors!
Afterwards, I stamped all the little leaves with a light grey on a little white piece of paper. That way you can get a great soft background whereas the main focus lays on the critter in front. My sentiment is in german, it's a greeting and means something like a formal "Hello". Everything glued with some foam tape and the dimensional card is finished!

That's it from me today :) Have great day and enjoy the last warm sunshine!

Copic Coloring Grass and Critters on a Clean and Simple Card

Coloring Grass and Critters with Copics by Jess Gerstner featuring Gerda Steiner Designs Stamps

Hello crafty friends! It's Jess from JessCrafts.com. Today I am sharing a card made with the Happy Fall, Heavy Friends, and Happy Spring stamp sets. I wanted to combine these three critters who had their heads thrown back in joy. To find out more about how I made this card check out the video below.

Creating grass with Copics is relatively simple as long as you get the feel for the flicks that create the blades but it may take some practice. Distress Ink is a great way to add a soft sky.

Video: Create An Autumnal Background

Hi crafters! Today I'm featuring a new clear stamp set Happy Fall. It has a ton of fun and cute squirrel images that are perfect to create a fall themed card. Of course, I know you are creative enough to use it the entire year around and I can't wait to see what you make with it.

As you can see, I employed the same technique that Jennifer McGuire recently showed on her YouTube channel. And I have to say, those embossing folders really create an incredible dimension. I had not expected the effect to be as fantastic as it was.

To make the cute image stand out against the very colorful background, I chose to leave for the tag simple and white so it would pop against the color. The coloring was done with Copic markers, which have become my medium of choice if I want to do some easy and fast coloring. It's incredible, if somebody would've told me that a year ago, I would have laughed :-)

I hope you enjoyed the card and the video. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, you make my day!

Happy Fall Stamp set with Prismacolor Pencils

Aloha Guys!
This is Joyce from Enjoyscrappin2.com and today I wanted to share this card I made using the Brand New stamp set called Happy Fall.  This stamp set has so many cute critters, I had a hard time choosing which ones I wanted to use first, lol.  This stamp set is Now Available in the store, so be sure to check it out.
As soon as I saw this squirrel, it reminded me of all the acorns he must of put in his cheeks so that's what I tried to create.  I stamped out a whole bunch of acorns, a pile of it, and I placed him on top.  I did a lot of masking for the acorns, which took some time but I love how it turned out.  I colored him using my Prismacolor pencils and blended it out using some Gamsol.  I also found this pattern paper in my stash, which reminded me of fall.  I hope you like this card and stay tuned for more amazing inspirations from the Design Team members.  Thank you so much and have a great day :)

Happy Fall Shakercard

Hello crafters!

Since the fabulous "Happy Fall" set got released yesterday, I want to show you today another card using one of these cute squirrels! I imagined the layout of this card since I first saw the previews of the set. It turned out a bit different than imagined, but I think it also fits the fall theme :)
It turned out to be a shaker card filled with all the great leaves from the set.

If you'd like to know how I created this card, you can watch my "Making-of" video :)

Stay tuned for more inspiration for this set in the next days, lots of cuteness to come :)
Have a great day!

Happy Fall

Hello friends, It's Chitra here with a card for you!! I played with the new clear stamp set called "Happy Fall" which is now available in the shop!!! YAYYY!!
Here is my card for today...

I stamped the hanging squirrel (which is my FAVORITE in this set) onto Simon Says Stamp 120lb white cardstock and colored the image using Copics, also I added the leaf to the branch and colored with copics. Then masked the colored image and sponged some blue ink for the sky and when I was all done, happy and ready to stamp the sentiment a big boo-boo happened on top fold of the card... So to hide that (I was not going to trash this piece of work) part I took a thin strip of black cardstock and adhered it on the top :D Finally stamped the sentiment from the set which finishes my card.

Here is close up..

Hope you liked my card!!
Hop on over to the shop to get your hands on this cutie and maybe you can grab some other sets as well.. Oh and did I mention there is a FREE SHIPPING going on!!!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Hugs,
Chitra

Yippeeh a kite!

Hi there!

I'm so excited for my turn to show you a piece of the brand new stamp set "Happy Fall" which will be available for purchase on August 12th!
OMG! You guys gonna love this one! I haven't noticed squirrels that much in my life so far, but since I saw these cute guys - I can't get enough!

So this is my first card using the kite, the leaves, the sentiment and of course one squirrel of the set.

I kind of did the background just like Chitra already did. I stamped all the great (and detailed!) leaves and colored them in fall colors. I think it looks just so pretty! So fantastic what you can do with just a few tiny stamps.

Then I took out a small piece of white cardstock to create a cloudy sky. I placed the squirrel on the stump and put a grassy border behind and in front of it with some foam tape. After all, I placed the cute kite above and gave the string in the squirrels paws.

Here's also a video of my making process, if you want to see what I did - more detailed ;)

I hope you liked it! Have a great day :)

Using a Stencil to Draw Attention to an Image

Hello crafty friends! It's Jess from JessCrafts.com. Today I am sharing a card made with the Playful Kittens stamp set. I wanted to create a clean and simple card that allowed a single image to shine. To find out more about how I made this card check out the video below.

This card design will work even if the stencil does not have a clear center because the flat background will take less attention away from the image than other background techniques or layers of paper. Which Gerda Steiner image and stencil from your stash would you pair up for a clean and simple card?

Hello there!

Hello friends, its Chitra here with a card for you using the new clear stamp set called Happy Fall. I am seriously in love with the super cute squirrels in this set, they all are sooooo adorable... Love it!!! Super excited to share my card with you all!!!

For my card I took a stitched rectangle panel from a white cardstock and stamped all the itty bitty images in the set using memento rich cocoa ink and colored them using Prisma colored pencils. Then I took Crafters Companion ultra smooth white cardstock and stamped the squirrel first using memento black ink and masked it to stamp the wood block for the squirrel to stand on. I colored the wood block using Prisma and rest of the scene using Copics. The butterflies are from How are Ewe Stamp set and the sentiment is from Heavy Friends stamp set. I used a circle die to die-cut it out and then popped it using foam adhesive and flesh adhered the main panel on Recollections 110lb white cardstock.
Here is a close up..

That's all from me today, I hope you liked my card. Can't wait to share more cards using this sweet set with you all...
Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing day!!!

Hugs,
Chitra

Video: Have A Splash

Hi crafters! Today I'm back with a bright and cheerful card featuring some clear stamps. My main point of interest here is the colorful background that helps to set off the stamped images.

As you can see, this is easily accomplished by blending some the distress inks. If you don't have distress inks, you can try your regular dye inks; maybe even pigment inks. After all, Laura Bassen makes them work all the time. Distress inks will blend the easiest, though, because that's what they are made for. And if you remember your color theory from school, you can even control which colors you can create by blending them together. For example, the pink and yellow resultant orange and the yellow and teal resulted in green.

And of course I had to add a few sequins by Pretty Pink Posh for additional sparkle. The rest of the card is very clean and that ensures that my critters and the background are the stars of the show.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!
