Chicken Scratch Friendship Card

Hello and welcome! It’s Karen here today and I have a friendship card to share with you. I think we are all in need of more personal connections these days and sometimes a hand made card can bring a lot of joy to those we love.  I’ve used the Chicken Scratch stamp set from Gerda Steiner Designs for this one because those chickens have definitely got some attitude!

I used copic markers to colour in my images.  I added some greys and browns to the pig to make it look like he was playing in the mud.  The copic markers I used are listed down below.

For the background, I masked off the sky and ink blended the ground with a mix of Distress Ink in Tea Dye and Vintage Photo.  I used a copic marker to add brown spots in a random pattern, and also to make a mud puddle for the pig to play in.  Then I masked off the ground before ink blending the sky.  I used the Cloud Edger stencil from A Colorful Life and Clear Day ink from Cosmic Shimmer for the sky.  The fence and grassy borders were cut from Lawn Fawn dies.  The barn was embossed with the Honey Bee Barnwood Planks dies before ink blending it and assembling it.

Before adding the animals to the scene, I stamped and clear heat embossed the sentiment which is from the Chicken Scratch stamp set and is just perfect for a friendship card, especially these days.   I think those little animals would lift anyone’s spirits! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you’re having a great day!

Copic Markers:

Pig - R22, R20, R43, N4, N2, E35

Birthday Chickens

Hello everyone!

I'm Iris, from IrisHandcraft on Instagram. And I'm so excited to be a guest designer on this blog!

For this card I used the super cute Chicken Scratch stamp set! Love how much character all of these critters have.

I started out by stamping all of the images in the set. And coloring them in using Copic markers. Here are all the colors I used:

After that I fussy cut them out and went around them with a black marker.

Then I went on to create a background for these critters. I did some ink blending using Distress Ink in de the colors Mermaid Lagoon and Twisted Citron. The clouds are from the Simple Puffy Cloud Frames die set from Lawn Fawn.

For the sentiment I combined stamps from two different sets. The top part is from Heffy Doodle - Everyday Sentiment Duos and the other part is from Concord & 9th - Perfectly Penned.

I glued the ink blended piece to a Kraft colored card base. The clouds are adhered directly to the background, as well as the rope/branch piece. And for the chickens I used some dimensional adhesive!

That finishes the the card! Hope you like it!

Until next time,
Iris

When pigs pick apples

Hi. I'm Lise Mariann and I am so happy to be this month's guest designer for Gerda Steiner stamps and I must say; I love her stamps and the cute images. I have so much fun creating with these stamps and it's so easy to combine stamp sets (wich always is something that I enjoy doing).

For my first card the next month I have made this cute apple picking pig-card. I'm not sure how he did manage to get up in the tree, but boy does he love it up there.

I started by stamping the pig from the "Chicken scratch" stamp set and the tree and apples from the "Fall in love" stamp set. I also freehand drew a basket for the apples.

I colored all my images using my copic markers and then fussy cut the images.

I cut a card panel using a stitched rectangle die and some grass using a grass die. I colored the grass and sky using several blue and green ink pads and then I created my scene.

I popped all my images up on foam tape. I also cut a slit in the basket to place my apples inside it. I stamped the sentiment that I found on the "Foxes" stamp set before I glued my panel on a white card base.

This card make me giggle every time I see it. Look at that happy face!

Chicken Scratch!

Have you seen this stamp set??

This is Chicken Scratch from Gerda Steiner Designs and I LOVE it! I would dare say it's one of my most favorite sets to date! The images are hysterical and so are the sentiments! Check out the one on the bottom of the above image.... 'this card was made from scratch'! Haha! Totally my sense of humor!

This is a card I whipped up using the Chicken Scratch set.

This card is obviously a clean and simple design which really keeps these adorable
chickens the stars of the card.

To make this I started by stamping the three darker chickens first, being sure to leave space for the other two chickens. I made maskes for the three dark chickens, and then stamped the remaining images.

I then colored each of the chickens using Copic markers and added white spots to the darker chickens with a Uni- ball Signo white gel pen.

I gave them shadows with my neutral gray Copics and stamped the sentiment with Versa Fine black ink.

I think it turned out pretty cute! Now.....who should I send this too?? Thank goodness my friends and family would totally get the humor!

Just Chicken In!

Happy Saturday! I’m sharing a card today using the brand new Chicken Scratch stamp set. These stamps are SO super cute and funny!

I just love their expressions!

For this one, I started by stamping and masking the chickens using a light gray Copic friendly ink. I also cut a piece of eclipse masking tape for the ground under them.

I used a light gray ink and a chicken wire stencil for the background and then colored up my little scene with Copics and some colored pencil details.

I’ve combined a punny sentiment from this set with the “hey friend” sentiment from the Foxes stamp set. I liked the look of the different script together and it fit the space just right. I’ve heat embossed them with black embossing powder.

I added a strip of patterned paper at the bottom to ground the scene and add some extra interest.

Hope you have a great crafty weekend and see you again soon!

[VIDEO] Masked Scene with Laura

Masked Scene feat Gerda Steiner Designs Chicken Scratch

Hi everyone! It's Laura here and today I am back with a fun masked scene I created with the Gerda Steiner Designs Chicken Scratch stamp set and a video tutorial showing how to make it!

I created my scene on some Neenah Solar White 110lb carstock that I die cut with the a stitched rectangle die. For the masks I used some removable packaging labels and to stamp the images I used my Mini MISTI and hybrid black ink.

After I was done stamping, and with the masks still in position, I did some ink blending with Distress Oxides and the Ranger Blending Brushes. I used Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint for the grass and Broken China and Tumbled Glass for the sky. I added some water droplets for an extra detail on the background.

To color the images I used Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. You can watch the coloring process, including a list of the markers I used, in the video tutorial at the end of this post.

I created a background for my scene using a 4.25x5.5" stitched rectangle die and some woodgrain patterned paper. I adhered everything to a top folding A2 card base and moved on to the finishing touches.

I added some details to the images with Glossy Accents and some enamel dots with Nuvo Drops in Simply White.
And that's my card for today! As I mentioned, I filmed a video tutorial for you, showing you how to create this cute masked scene with the Gerda Steiner Designs Chicken Scratch Stamp Set. You can watch it down below or directly on my YouTube channel.

Thank you all so much for stopping by and have a great day!

A few funny and punny cards!

Hello crafty friends! Its Rebekah with you today!

Happy April 1st!! Also known as April fools day!! This is a big day at our house. Jokes and gags are planned for months in advance. And everyone know they will fall victim to at least one joke before the end of the day. Waiting to see who will get you and when is the most funny part of the day.

We also tell all kinds of jokes. Like this one made using the newest stamp set coming SOON to the Gerda Steiner shop called Chicken Scratch!

I dew the karate uniform on to the stamped image of the pig and wrote the sentiment with a simple black Copic Milti-liner.

Are you ready for the punch line???

The set itself is funny! Look at the expression on the chickens! They crack me up and are eggstra ADORABLE! Ha! Ha!

The chickens seem to be completely
annoyed at this pun and I think it is just too cute!

So funny!

I love a good pun and this set has a great one with a lot of potential for you to create your own. Check for it very soo in the shop! This is one you dont was to pass up!

A Pig Can Lay An Egg?!

Happy April Fools everyone! Gerda inspired me to create a card for this day and I hope I stepped up to the challenge. I'm sharing a sneak peek for a new stamp set releasing on April 5, called Chicken Scratch.

This set consists of multiple chickens and a pig. The pig is really cute but random among this set so it was PERFECT for this card. The idea behind it is that they are in a chicken coop and it seems as if a pig laid an egg.

As we all know, pigs don't lay eggs but chickens do. I needed to get the pig to swap out and have the chicken appear. I used a double slider mechanism to accomplish this.

I created a video to show the process of putting this card together and I thought it turned out to be pretty funny. I hope you enjoy it!
