'Valentine Penguins' Acetate Card

Hello to everyone!  Bev Gerard here to share a fun way to use the adorable Valentine Penguins stamp set from Gerda Steiner Designs!  Seriously, it's so easy to color these sweeties you can quickly create lots of valentines in little time.

The penguin pair was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black then colored with Copics C7, C5, C3, C1 & C0, YR14, YR23, R30 & R32 with touches of a white gen pen.  Penguins are lifted up on foam tape and placed atop layered red & white heart shapes.

Taking advantage of the acetate layer, the inside sentiment is atop smaller heart layers that are placed directly behind the front hearts.   This is fun to create and fun to receive!

Basic A2 Card style recipe:
Base card stock = 4.25" x 8".  Score at 5.5" on the long side.  Use any border die to create interest on the remaining 3" flap.   I layered a matching-cut piece of scrapbook paper atop the flap.

Acetate layer = 4.25" x 5.5".   Adhere this beneath the border cut flap.  Strips of dbl.-sided adhesive work well here.

So Glad You're My Friend!

 Happy New Year, everyone!

I'm Beverly Gerard, so happy to be back as a guest designer for Gerda Steiner Designs!

Today I'm sharing a card made with the adorable Valentine Penguins set.

Although we don't often have snow here in North Texas, I do love the glisten of snow.  I thought of a beautiful rainbow when the snowy moisture & sunlight are in perfect alignment to create a wintery rainbow.  Thus, this rainbow was created in soft pastel shades.

I started with a light blue cardstock for the sky, then softly applied white pigment ink in touch & go style smudges, just to soften up the color as on a snowy day.  Next I used a cloud stencil and applied Distress Oxide Spun Sugar to add a fanciful interest to the sky.

The snowy hills are cut from shimmery white paper which was not adhered completely across the upper snow lines.  That created a bit of added dimension.  The adorable penguin is popped up on foam tape along with its balloon.

I love the option of this friendship sentiment included in the stamp set, along with the following valentine greetings:  Happy Valentine's Day!   -   You are so loved!    -   and
Waddle I Do Without You

Welcome to a brand new year!

Thinking of You!

Hi everyone!  I'm Beverly and I am delighted to come back today to share another cute way to use the adorable Cup of Love stamp set from Gerda Steiner Designs!  When I chose this blue tiled paper by Recollections, I knew exactly which stencil I would use in the background - Stamp Mosaic from A Colorful Life Designs.  I mixed few drops of reinker with water to create the splatters.  Just tap your wet watercolor brush across your finger to splat color!  Now here's how I paper pieced the tea cup:

Once the glue was dry on the tea cup, I was ready to color the mouse and the interior of the cup.  I found the right match for the cup in my Prismacolor Pencils (PC1087).  The mouse is colored with Copic markers COO, CO, C1, and RVOO.  Now the mouse is ready for a little extra dimension attention as follows:

Next, the cup was mounted on a die cut circle with foam tape, and the complete circle was glued atop the stenciling on the card.

"Thinking of You" was stamped with VersaFine Onyx on Neenah Classic cardstock, and trimmed wide enough for the sentiment before layer on a coordinating strip of cardstock to pull everything together!

It has truly been my pleasure to be asked to Guest Design here at Gerda Steiner Designs!  Now here's to your next opportunity to enjoy some sweet paper crafting time!

Thanks for your visit!

Take a Break!

Hello everyone!   I'm Beverly Gerard, and I'm totally tickled to have been invited to guest design for Gerda Steiner Designs!  Today I'm sharing a card made with the upcoming Cup of Love stamp set.

My card was inspired by a recent visit to a mom & pop country cafe.  There's the red & white tablecloth setting the place for a polka dotted teacup full of sweet joy.  To create the wall texture, I scored kraft cardstock using 1/8" scoreboard lines before adhering it to the card front.  In order to give the cup a nice contrast of polka dots atop the gingham paper, I masked off the mouse and cup interior with a mask cut from a sticky note while blending Ranger's 'Barn Door' Distress Ink through the dotted stencil.

The adorable little mouse is colored with Copic markers W00, W0, W1, and R000.  Let me warn you though, this little mouse is going to keep calling you back for more play time.  In fact, I colored two!  I fussy cut the second image and layered it with foam tape atop the original mouse in the cup.  Additionally, I couldn't just leave the cup sitting flat atop the tablecloth, so it's lifted with foam tape as well.

Did you notice the bitty tea bag tag?  The Cup of Love stamp set includes 3 little stamps to choose from for stamping on the tag:  smile, take a break, and love you.  Plus, the set also includes 3 larger sentiments for placement on your card:  Thinking of you, Take a Break, and You Deserve It.

Thanks a bunch for visiting!  I'll be back again next week with another fun way to use this sweet stamp set!
