Carol Kitten

Hi! Its Rebekah here with you today bringing you a look at the NEW Carol Kitten stamps set!

As a mother to five kids ranging in ages from 11 to 19, I quite frequently have someone rolling their eyes at me or giving me an annoyed glare. It could be because I have asked them to feed the dogs or take out the trash but a lot of the time it is because I have done something to embarrass them. That was the inspiration behind this card!

I love the little kitty rolling his eyes at the two who are singing their hearts out! He looks to me to be very embarrassed by their rendition of 'Joy to the World'. It just makes me laugh!

For this card I colored three of the four kittens in the Carol Kitten stamp set with Copic markers. I used both the flicking and dot techniques to create the look of fur.

I created the background using Distress Oxide Inks. I masked off the bottom of the card to create snow drifts and added a few shadows in the drifts with Copic markers. The sentiment and musical notes are stamped with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with fine detail white embossing powder.

The Carol Kitten stamp set will be available in the Gerda Steiner store on October 2nd! It is a super fun set to color and I can't wait to see what YOU make with it!

[Video] Friendship Card with Laura

Hi everyone! It's Laura here, and today I am here on the Gerda Steiner Designs blog with a card and a video I created with the Gerda Steiner Designs Foxes stamp set. This set was released during the summer and is full of cute images! You can get it from the Gerda Steiner Designs shop, where you will find also the coordinating dies.

For my card today I used one of the foxes and the owl in the set, and created a clean and simple card. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen me color the fox during a live, a few weeks ago. For both the fox and the owl I used My Favorite Things Black Licorice Hybrid Ink for stamping and Spectrum Noir markers for the coloring.

For the sky I did some ink blending with Distress Inks. I started by blending Seedless Preserves, Chipped Sapphire and Black soot on some Bristol Smooth Cardstock. I then went over the blue and purple areas with Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet to brighten them up a bit. I then used gold, copper and silver Gansai Tambi watercolors to add some stars to my sky.

For the front panel I die cut some cardstock using the Studio Katia Darling Ribbon and Frames dies and the Birthday Balloons dies. I stamped the sentiment using again My Favorite Things Black Licorice Hybrid Ink and I started assembling my scene. Before gluing down the fox, I created a little patch of grass using my Spectrum Noir markers, so that the fox would have something to stand on.

As a final embellishment I used the Studio Katia Gold Foil Confetti on the top right and bottom left of my card front, and then mounted everything on a top-folding A2 card base.

I also created a video for this card, you can watch it down below.

And that's it for today! I really hope you guys liked this card and enjoyed the video! Thank you all so much for stopping by, and have a great day!

Let's eat cupcakes

Hi, Margreet here.
With pride I can share the good news with you: I may be part of Gerda Steiner's Digital Design Team!
I made this card with the freebie "Let's Eat Cupcakes". If you also want to play with it, you can get it here. And while you are still there, you can also download a lovely autumn digi.
I have used an embossingfolder with cupcakes and colored them lightly with Pan Pastel. The bear is colored with Promarkers. I put some Stickles on the whipped cream. The balloon has been colored with a Sakura gelly roll (stardust glimmer). I also used this for the decoration on the cake.
I hope I have inspired you to use this cute free digi!

Happy fall freebie - Larissa

Hi everyone, I am Larissa from Car-d-elicious and today I am posting a new card on the blog from Gerda Steiner designs. This time I have made a card with a freebie image from Gerda. This is the Happy fall printable from Gerda Steiner designs.

I have coloured the image with my Polychromos pencils. I coloured the letters of the word fall with the Clear Spectrum noir sparkle pen. With a white gelpen I added some dots on the mushrooms. I have diecut the image with the Crea-nest-lies XXL 44 from Crealies. I have diecut a larger rectangle from dark brown cardstock with the Crea-nest-lies XXL 52 from Crealies and glued the image on top of it. On a white card I added a layer of brown cardstock and then I added a layer of plaid design paper from the Perfectly plaid fall paper pack from Lawn fawn (retired). I glued the image with foamtape on the card. With a hole punch I made a little hole in the fold of the card and then I threaded yellow bakerstwine through it and tied it into a bow.

I have decorated the inside of the card with a strip of plaid paper from the Perfectly plaid fall paper pack from Lawn fawn (retired).

Happy Fall and Let's eat Cupcake

Hi there,

it's Tanja here and I created two cards using the Gerda Steiner Designs Happy Fall Printable and the Let's Eat Cupcake Printable which are available in the Gerda Steiner Designs Shop:

  • color the Gerda Steiner Designs Happy Fall Printable with Derwent Inktense Pencils, watered-down Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass, Peeled Paint) and a damp watercolor brush
  • mount the panel onto a piece of kraft cardstock stamped with leaves and from the Gerda Steiner Designs Happy Fall set in Altenew Crisp Ink Mocha
  • embellish the card with some natural twine before adhering it to the cardbase

And this is my second project:

  • color the Gerda Steiner Designs Let's Eat Cupcake Printable with Derwent Inktense Pencils and a damp watercolor brush
  • add highlights with a white gel pen
  • apply Distress Ink Pumice Stone through the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil Feather for a subtle background
  • add a strip of silver glitter paper and a strip of purple cardstock before adhering the panel to a cardbase

I hope you got inspired.

Smile!

Hi everyone! It's Cathy here with a card today using the Foxes stamp set.

I started by stamping the fox and mushrooms from this set in a light gray Copic friendly ink and masking off the stamped images and a ground area underneath them.

I taped a stencil over the top and inked the background using Memento Desert Sand and Old Paper Distress Ink.

I then colored the images and ground beneath them with Copics and added colored pencil details.

For a simple, but bold sentiment, I inked a piece of white cardstock with Vintage Photo, Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks and die-cut the letters from it.

Hope you enjoyed and thanks for stopping by!

See you soon!

Cathy

With you....!!

Hey everyone...

Ashlee here and today I've got a card to share with you using the
(co-ordinating die set also available)!!

I made a background spotlight using some distress oxide inks,
and I stamped one of the fantastic sentiments slightly over the top edge so it kind of
merged into the background.

Once I stamped the sentiment I went over it with a black gelly roll pen so it
has lots of sparkle in the light!!

The super cute owl and branch I coloured up with Copics...

and to finish off the card I added a few black rhinestones!!

Be sure to check out this new set, its super cute!!

Cute birthday owl with Kaja

Hi there,
It's Kaja from Kajcyika crafts and today I have prepared a cute birthday card!

Take a look:
I used the brand new Owl reather be with you stamp set and I colored the images in using alcohol markers.

For the background I went with a messy watercoloring in blue. I added some splatters in the same color to make it just a bit more interesting.
Next, I took a piece of white cardstock and die cut it with stitched rectangle die. After die cutting the outside edge I added a scalloped detail using smaller scalloped rectangle die.

I placed the watercolored background behind the window I have created with the die and I glued the owl on top of it.
The last thing I added was the sentiment that reads 'whooo.. is having a birthday?'. I heat embossed it in white over a black cardstock and then I die cut it using an oval. Then, I added two black dots to make the oval look like a speach bubble.

That's it for today! Thank you so much for joining me! See you next time.

Guest Design - Owls by Michelle Short

Hello there, Michelle Short here and I am delighted to be guest designing with Gerda Steiner Designs today. I am using the new Owl Rather Be With You stamp set for two projects today. The owls in this set are so cute and can be used for lots of different occasions.

For my card I started off by stamping one of the owls from the set on to white cardstock with black ink. I then made a mask for this and stamped the branch below so that it looks like he is standing on it. I made a mask for this too. I then stamped the balloon from the Happy Hoppy set three times above, masking these as I went. I also masked off the sides of the panel and then took a cloud stencil and with Broken China Distress Ink, created clouds across the background of the card panel.

The masks were removed and then the sentiments from the Owl Rather Be With You were stamped above. I also drew lines with a black fine-liner pen for the strings on the balloons. The images were then coloured using Copic Markers. The panel was added with foam sheet and double sided tape on to a black A2 card base.

For the inside of the card, I took another panel of white cardstock and created clouds across the background. I then stamped the 'you are!' stamp to complete the sentiment from the front. This was added inside the card with tape runner.

I had so much fun creating the card that I thought I would make a little tag too. I first created a subtle cloud background, again with the cloud stencil and Distress Ink. I stamped the 'thank you' sentiment from the Brush Bunny set towards the bottom. On a separate piece of cardstock, I stamped another of the owls and coloured with Copic Markers. I fussy cut him out, but there are dies available. He was then added to the tag with foam tape. To finish off, I added twine through the top of the tag.

Thank you so much for stopping by the Gerda Steiner Designs blog today, and a big thank you goes to the team for having me guest with them. Have a great day!

Mix it up!

Hi there! It's Jeannie and I'm back to share a really simple card that I put together to share with you today.

I wanted to use the Christmas Puppies set but I didn't want to create anything Christmas themed. I chose to use the puppy in the present bag. This is an easy image that can be used for birthdays and that's just want I decided to to.

I used a piece of Bristol Smooth paper. I masked off part of the bottom of my card panel and added yellow distress ink so it surrounds where I want the image to be. I also used dark blue distress ink to ground the dog image. In this particular card I decided to stamp, color and fussy cut the image so I could place it on top of the yellow area.

I decided that since this card was super simple, I used an embossing folder for the top part of the card to add a bit of texture to the card. It just adds that something special to the card panel.

I trimmed down the card panel so I could add a dark blue background. I like how it ties everything together. For the sentiment, I used another stamp set called Dachshunds and it had a perfect birthday sentiment to it.

I love how simply cute this card turned out and I hope you enjoyed it as well. Thank you for stopping by!

Hey friend - Larissa

Goodmorning, I am Larissa from Car-d-elicious and today it is my turn again to post something on the blog from Gerda Steiner designs. This time I made a card with the new stampset Foxes from Gerda Steiner designs.

I have stamped the image of the owl, fox and mushroom and then I coloured them all with my Polychromos pencils. I have fussy cut all the images. On a whie card I used masking tape to create a strip and I coloured it with Tumbled glass, Broken China, Peacock feathers, Faded jeans and Chipped saphire distress ink. From white cardstock I have die-cut a strip of grass with the Grassy hills die-namics from My favorite things. I used Mowed lawn and Lucky clover distress ink to colour the grass. I glued all the images and the grass on the card. I stamped a sentiment from the set Foxes from Gerda Steiner designs on white cardstock and fussy cut it. I used foamtape to adhere it on my card. With a white gelpen I added some dots on the coloured strip on the card to make it look like a starry night.

Sweet Little Owl

Hello crafty friends!

I hope your week is going well so far.

I'm popping in today to share a card with you using another adorable owl from the 'owl rather be with you' stamp set.

I decided to do something different and colour this sweet little owl in pink! I coloured her in using Copic markers and I made her extra girly by adding some long lashes with a black gel pen. I used the same pen to darken her eyes and then a white gel pen for the little dot on top. I also used the white gel pen to add some detail to her wings. The branches were coloured using Copic markers also. Once these were coloured, I cut them out using my Scan n Cut. There are matching dies available in the store though! You can find them here.

Once those images were ready I set them aside to work on the rest of the card. Using distress inks, I blended the background that you see here and spritzed some water onto it and soaked it up with paper towel. The colours I used are Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers.

Once that was completely dry, I heat embossed the sentiment from the 'Foxes' stamp set.   I die cut it to give it a stitched edge and then I die cut a scalloped frame with white card stock.

Next, the frame and the images were adhered to the background using foam for dimension. To finish off, I added some little wooden stars for decoration. I hope you like it!

Have a great day!

Whooooo....is awesome?!

Hey friends! It's Keeway from Kiwi Koncepts and I am thrilled to be here as a guest designer for today! I created a card featuring the Owl Rather Be With You set that was part of the latest release in August. Seriously, how cute are these owls?!

I stamped the images in a dark brown hybrid ink and colored them up with copic markers. Then, I fussy cut the images. Next, I blended a soft background using Blueprint Sketch, Broken China, and Antique Linen. I added a touch of splatter for texture.

I bordered off the area with some white card stock that was also die cut with a stitched slope and stamped the first part of the sentiment in the top right corner. I added the branch and owls coming from the edges and added this panel to the card over foam tape. And finally I mounted this to an A2 sized base card, where I stamped 'You are!' inside to finish the sentiment when the recipient opens the card.

This was such a cute set to play with! Thank you Gerda Steiner Designs for having me today!
